Ryan Nolan

Ryan P. Nolan is a Partner and Co-Head of Global Technology at BDT & MSD Partners, a merchant bank with an advisory and investment platform built to serve the distinct needs of founders, family business owners, and strategic, long-term investors. He also serves on the firm’s Technology Investment Committee.

Prior to joining BDT & MSD, Ryan was a Partner in the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Group at Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC. Over his 13-year career at Goldman Sachs, he advised on merger and acquisition transactions totaling more than $150 billion in deal value, including the largest technology acquisition in history. He also advised on capital markets transactions raising more than $50 billion, including five billion-dollar technology IPOs and two of the largest private financings in the sector, and on complex, high-stakes situations, including shareholder activism and hostile takeover defense.

Ryan is a Senior Research Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School and a Life Member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He serves on the Board of Directors of Booz Allen Hamilton and on the Boards of Directors of the PBS Foundation, and America’s Frontier Fund.

Ryan earned a B.B.A. in Finance, summa cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame, and a J.D. and M.B.A. from Duke University.
