Oyin Thompson
Events Manager
Oyin Thompson joined the PBS Foundation in October 2022. Prior to joining PBS, Oyin served as Director of Special Events and Programs for the Montgomery County Commission for Women (CFW). In this role, she spearheaded the Commission’s programs, maintained key relationships, and managed several aspects of communications including the CFW’s social media outlets.
Oyin has also served as Education and Community Outreach Manager at Strathmore Hall Foundation, a multi-disciplinary arts center based in North Bethesda, MD. For five years, she served with a strong passion for community engagement and program management. She sustained supportive relationships with community and faith-based organizations in Montgomery County, MD, and managed several programs including Strathmore’s “Step Up” program presented in partnership with Step Afrika!, a D.C.-based company dedicated to the tradition of stepping. A dedicated arts professional, Oyin has had the pleasure of serving as a panelist on the National Endowment for the Arts’ Folk & Traditional Arts grants panel where applicants were recommended based on artistic excellence and merit.
Oyin holds a B.A. in Media and Communications Studies from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Like many others in 2020, she became a “pandemic baker” and continues to make tasteful creations for her husband and young son.
